10 Commandments of Customer Service.

*********************

BROKER'S NOTE: Although this file does not have anything to do with buying or selling a business, taking proper care of your customer should nonetheless be one of your foremost considerations after you have purchased a business.

********************

  1. The customer is the most important person in any business.

  1. Customers aren't dependent on us. We're dependent on them.

  1. Customers aren't an interruption of our work. They're the purpose of it.

  1. Customers do us a favor when they call. We aren't doing them a favor by serving.

  1. Customers are a part of our business, not outsiders.

  1. Customers are not statistics but flesh-and-blood human beings with emotions like our own.

  1. Customers are not persons with whom to argue or match wits.

  1. Customers bring in their wants. It's our job to fill them.

  1. Customers deserve the most courteous, attentive treatment we can give them.

  1. Customers are the lifeblood of every business.

Retailers should chisel those words in stone. Or better yet, ingrain them in their employees' hearts and minds.
